Christianity in Crisis 21st Century

Christianity in Crisis 21st Century by Hank Hanegraaf

I am Pentecostal and I was very appalled and saddened at the stance the author takes towards the Faith-movement. Instead of dowing and demeaning why not pray for the movement if you think they are wrong.
This is the first book that I had read by this author and it will probably be my last.
Christianity in Crisis is full of repetition. Hanegraaf must have been trying to follow the rule of repeating something 7 times in order to remember it.
I disagree that the Faith-movement is a cult.
The author seems to be targeting televangelist preachers and taking statements out of contexts. He continuously downs the Faith-movement preachers and teachers by name. I disagree that faith-movement preachers think they are gods. We are suppose to have more power than our Lord did. That is why we have the Holy Spirit.
Does the author believe miracles have ceased?
The faith-movement is a back to the basics movement.
Perhaps, Mark Hanegraaf needs to do further research to learn some of the Biblical truths from Bro. Kenneth Copeland, Rod Parsley, Joyce Meyer, John Hagee and others.
Does Mr. Hanegaaf think that God doesn't speak to us today? God wants His people to be healed and to prosper and Jesus said we would do greater things than He did. No we are not gods, we are heirs of the King of kings and Lord of lords.
I would not recommend this book.
As christians we should not be downing each other but encouraging and uplifting each other.

  1. Let me do ya a favor Shelby,,, read this. http://thewordonthewordoffaithinfoblog.com/2009/03/15/an-inherent-flaw-in-charismatic-theology-that-the-word-of-faith-movement-has-exploited-so-well-i-call-it-a-highjacking-by-damon-whitsell/

And I ask you,, as a charismatic Pentecostal,, do you believe the theology (things about God) that all word of faith peachers teach (or do you even know what they teach,, did ya really read the book?). You have allot to learn about your own movement and the necessity of Logic and Reason in faith. Yeh I know that may be in stark contrast to what you believe as a Charismatic.

But My dear, you have committed at least 7 logical fallacies in your review of Hannegraphs book. I will just address # 1 and let you “noodle” over the rest.

YOU SAID: “Instead of dowing and demeaning why not pray for the movement if you think they are wrong.”

HMMM, lets see, here is a few faults with that one statement. 1. You assume that hank has not preyed for the movement. So you commit a false dilemma fallacy based on your false conclusion that Hank has NOT prayed and should JUST PRAY. That is really what ya meant,,, just pray don’t speak right. Why not pray and speak? 2. Then you beg the question,,, assuming that everyone should agree with your assumption that as a Christian,,, all we are called to do is pray for false teachers instead of expose them. When Jesus, Paul and Peter talked about false teachers,, they all named names. Every book in the NT except Philemon says some thing about false teachers and false prophets. And the only subject Jesus talked about more than false teachers and false prophets,,, was hell. I some time wonder what bible people are reading to miss all of this. 3. By using loaded terms like “downing” and “demeaning”. You are committing the appeal to emotion logical fallacy, By misrepresenting Hanks efforts to defend the faith and trying to cast him in a bad light when he is not in the subject at hand or the thing in the spotlight,, the WoF is. 4. Your attempt to paint hank as downing and demeaning does not in anyway address any points he made in the book. You attacked the man instead of the argument. This is called the ad hominem logical fallacy. ATTENTION Just a REMINDER: When people cannot defend their positions they often revert to attacking the people who postulate the idea's,,, instead of attacking the ideas themselves:,,, this is called an Ad Hominem argument. The reason why an Ad Hominem (of any kind) is a fallacy is that the character, circumstances, or actions of a person do not (in most cases) have a bearing on the truth or falsity of the claim being made (or the quality of the argument being made).

That is four shining example of locial fallacies in one sentence. There is at least 6 more in you post. Can ya find em?

*****DO YOU EVEN KNOW HANNEGRAPH IS CHARISMATIC AND DOES NOT BELIVE MIRICLES THAT HAVE CEASED????????? LOL*****

I am NOT Charismatic,, and I new that. Hank believes in the perpetuation of the revelation and sign gifts of the Spirit. He believes in the so called charismatic second blessing and also in the gift of tongues for the edification of the church.

And my dear,, PLEASE READ MY ARTICLE I POSTED,,, how can you equate the Word of Faith Movement as just another extension of the Charismatic movement.

If you follow the Charismatic movement to it’s roots,,, you see it started in the 40’s and 50s out of the Pentecostal movement. If you follow the Pentecostal movement back in history,,, you see it was started around 1900 by members of the Holiness Movement who taught doctrines such as Christian Perfection and Entire Sanctification. Many believing they had actually become Sinless. That is afar cry from the WoF that NEVER,, I mean NEVER mentions sin.

NOT only that,,, but traditionally Charismatic and Pentecostals have believe in biblical orthodox mainline Christian doctrine. It is easily provable that the Wof denies every major essential Christian Doctrine. AND that makes them outside the pale of Christian orthodoxy,,, and it also makes them outside the pale of Charismatic Orthodoxy.

There are many Charismatic Scholars that speak against the WoF. The whole Assemblies of God Charismatic denomination (the largest charismatic denom),, officially rejected the WoF as Non charismatic and Non Christ. And truly a cult. HUH uh,, they called the WoF a non Christian cult in a official position paper. You should check it out yourself.

And yet still people like you do not even know the theology of your own tradition enough to even see when a counterfeit and intruder looms on the horizon,,, and will be hood winked and tossed to and fro by every wind of strange doctrine.

Sad really. Do your self a favor and search your comments for the them other logical fallacies.

A CLUE,, you’ll find em here

LOGICAL FALLACY= A logical fallacy is a collapse in logic often used in debate to mislead or distract people from the real issue. This article will show you examples of a logical fallacy. A logical fallacy is an element of an argument that is flawed, essentially rendering the line of reasoning, if not the entire argument, invalid.
